You Make The Call

You’re an entrepreneur and you make the call as to who you do or don’t do business with. Step back for a moment and ask yourself these questions:

  • Ø Am I tired of dealing with certain types of personality every day?
  • Ø Are the people I see daily speaking my language?
  • Ø Am I the stranger in my crowd now?
  • Ø Are my values being compromised
  • Ø Can I make a change

This is your business and you get to choose who you want to hang out with. You build relationships. Personally, if I can’t have a cup of coffee or share a meal with you, become friends over the phone, get to know a little about you, and see if we have common ground, then we will not be entering each other’s circle. After working over 42 years of my life, the last thing I want is to be around someone that I don’t have anything in common with just because they have money and can pay for my service. Is it really worth it? You make the call.

Targeted Marketing

Is there such a thing as a perfect client or a perfect pool where buyers hangout and are ready to purchase certain items? Fishing would be good if we could find that fishing hole! My answer to that question would be yes and no. Why no? Well, let’s think about this for a minute. You hear on a daily basis that you should advertise or market in your targeted marketing area. Does this mean that there is a physical place where people are waiting to spend money or is this a place where people are looking for you and are ready to throw money at you because you have the real “goodies!” No!

Now I will answer yes! Yes, your perfect client or the perfect pool is where there are people who you want to do business with. These people are searching for a solution to their problems. You’ve chosen your niche and you’ve discovered that you have a service or a solution to solve the problem(s) that the people who you want to work with are having. Your perfect client(s) are online asking the “how-to” question in the search engines. They are in social media groups; like minds stick together in places where they discuss their problems and are able to come to some resolution.

There are several places and groups on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn where you can find forums and groups of people who are looking for solutions to their problems. I’m basically saying, you have to put some effort into your research and find the best “fishing hole” for the fish that you’re trying to catch!

Why?

Are you trying to sell yourself or are you discussing the features, benefits, and what your service or product can do to solve your potential clients’ issues? If you’re talking about yourself to potential clients, do you think they are listening? Some might be listening but most want to know what you have that will cure their pain, help them start a business, get out of debt or anything that they desperately need.

When you began your business, think back as to why you started. Did you start your business just to make money and get rich? Did you start your business to get out of debt? Or did you start your business because you recognized that you had a solution to an issue or problem that seemed to be a common issue that people were online trying to find the solution for? You had been through this thing, found a way out, and at that moment you said to yourself, ” I don’t want anyone else to have to go through this.” You had a solution and at this point you found your purpose in life.

It was at this point that you became passionate about helping others solve a particular problem and you found yourself unable to sleep, up at nights, and talking about this newly founded passion to everyone you met. At that point, you were talking about the benefits of your business and why you were the person to work with. Your passion came over as caring and you had empathy for the person who was going through that same issue. The important thing is that the people who you had a chance to share with knew it.

Trust

There’s one thing that tends to change everything that you do. Stephen M. R, Covey wrote, “There is one thing that is common to every individual, relationship, team, family, organization, nation, economy, and civilization throughout the world. One thing which, if removed, will destroy the most powerful government, the most thriving economy, the most influential leaders, the greatest friendship, the strongest character, the deepest love.”He goes on to say, “on the other hand, if developed and leveraged, that one thing has the potential to create unparalleled success and prosperity in every dimension of life. Yet, it is the least understood, most neglected, and most underestimated possibility in our time.”That one thing is trust.

Conclusion

Simply put, trust is confidence in an individual or organization. It is other people feeling good about relying on you. Its value can hardly be overstated. Trustworthiness is the universally accepted test of good character,(Alexander Green, 2011).

4 Simple Techniques to Regain Your Confidence

You may not be aware of how confidence and productivity go hand-in-hand. Confidence doesn’t work well without productivity, and vice versa. Just think about it in your own life: the times when you are most productive and checking items off your to-do list, how confident do you feel? Or, on the other hand, when you have that confident “GO-GETTER” attitude, how much easier is it to get things done?

Here’s something, subconsciously, you already know, “Confidence and productivity are inherently interconnected” (DA April 2017). If you start mastering one, then the other falls into place.

Here are some ways to both boost that confidence while also seeing an increase in your productivity:

Include others

One way we gain confidence is by getting confirmation that we are doing a good job. It’s hard to get that kind of appreciation working all on your own. Being a part of a team or having a team is very healthy. It’s healthy to be able to synchronize your ideas and thoughts and receive feedback from others who are on the journey with you. With some projects, flying solo also can decrease productivity, but it does depend on the project. Even a one-man job, though, like writing a blog post, for instance, can still use some team help. Bouncing ideas off each other, or having someone read over your work is a great way to making an independent job one where you can include others.

Take criticism, don’t back away from it

In the last situation, many a content writer has shied away from team involvement because the criticism they received was too much to handle. They didn’t gain confidence, they lost it. That negative energy didn’t help them write more articles either. However, when you learn to see criticism as a benefit, a chance to improve your work, not as a heated stab at you, then you begin to see that these criticizing colleagues respect you enough to want to help. It doesn’t always feel that way, but try to see it as your friends having confidence that you can succeed with some slight adjustments. Those small or large changes may be what you need to be more productive as well.

Take Naps

Things always look worse when you’re tired, so do yourself a favor and take a nap. Not 3-hour naps every time you yawn or get distracted, but a short 20 or 30-minute nap here and there actually helps you feel more alert. By taking out a short amount of break time, you’ll actually find yourself being more productive with the time that you do have and feel more accomplished and confident in the process.

Focus on finishing one task at a time

When your to-do list is overwhelming, follow writer Anne Lamott’s advice: “Just take it bird by bird.” She recounts a time when her brother had to finish a 3-month assignment writing a report on birds, an assignment he saved until the night before it was due. We’ve all felt that impending doom when a task seems too large to finish in such a short amount of time. Rather than try to be productive, we curl up under our desks or find some other way to avoid what we need to get done. Lamott’s father would not let his son stay “immobilized by the hugeness of the task ahead…[He] put his arm around [Lamott’s] brother’s shoulder, and said, ‘Bird by bird, buddy. Just take it bird by bird.”

As you face similar dilemmas, just take it piece by piece. Find tasks that need to be done first and pick 3 or 4 to work on that day while blocking out time frames to accomplish them. Don’t move on to another task until you finish the task you are working on, and don’t let yourself go over those time blocks unless necessary. Discipline is a key to be productive, but you’ll see how that discipline also makes your confidence soar.

What in hell are you doing? Okay, I’ve been out sick again and recovering nicely. My job as an Operations Supervisor is changing presenting more mental stress than ever and while I’ve been down “don’t count me out yet!”

I’ve created two more streams of income! I’m pressing towards my mark of creating passive income for my retirement that will be fun just because I’m learning something new and because I’m leaving something for my legacy.

My last post, “Who Do You Want To Work For” seemed to stir the pot a little but not enough to get you moving.  Wealthy Affiliate has been a great platform for me to initiate my first stream of income. It has allowed me to be the leader for which I am to others that I have not seen but get to reach out to by way of its platform. Being a premium member has given me a number of advantages. What’s It Going To Cost You?

What’s it going to cost you? You have to put in the work in order to accept the price. Who is your market? Who do you want to work with? Is this journey worth it? When are you really going to begin working? These questions can only be answered by you for yourself. I had to accept the fact that there are many angles to this puzzle but there is one structure and a plan to follow with Wealthy Affiliate; follow it you might just discover something. It works!

Why Are You Comparing?

We tend to compare what we have with what we don’t have. More specifically, we compare what we have with what other people have and this becomes our focus and makes us unhappy.

If there was no one to compare with, it would change everything. Most of us would probably feel more fortunate. The ability to see what we don’t have causes us to overlook what we do have. You have a lifetime of experiences, relationships, and you were born with skills.

There’s no way around that. There are only ways to reduce it. We can start by recognizing that envy maybe what’s making you feel like you don’t have enough experience or education. That’s not true for everyone. Some people truly don’t have enough. But most of us likely do.

Enough will never feel like enough until you recognize that it’s enough. Look for contentment outside material wealth.

Our own impulses are what enslaves us. Material wealth makes it easier for us to delude and trap ourselves by our own desires.

So I ask you again, “What in hell are you doing?” Get off your behind, focus, plan, and execute your plan.

Do You Like Your Job(s)?

This is a question that is unconsciously discussed between you and your inner mind while driving, when you have quiet time, when it’s time to go to work and even when you are at work. It’s a question to ask yourself, do you like your job(s).

My peers have always asked me this very question and they are and have been quite surprised with my reply. They ask and asked, “Von do you like this job?” I immediately say no I don’t. Wish you could have seen and see the expression on their faces. You see I’ve worked for a group of managers who think of the bottom line only and that’s not my cup of tea at all. My leadership background has never had anything to do with numbers except the most important commodity; my people.

Why Are You Here?

I need you to understand I like the product and results I get from my job; the pay. I don’t like my job, nor do I intend to like any job. The next question is the question that most people always ask. “Well how is that you have everyone in motion and they seem to enjoy what they are doing, and you are producing high performers?”

There are several parts of his question that I had to answer, and I will elaborate a little. First, my focus has been on the development of my troops, teams, groups, and individuals. How can I focus on a bottom line and the people are not developed to handle the dynamics of the environment that they live in 8 plus hours daily? If you come to work and only hear that you must produce 5000 units daily for 52 weeks of your life, what will that do for you? You become a slave to a repetitive process that’s called a job.

Does This Sound Familiar?

For most people the word job really does mean “Just Over Broke” so they go out and get another job and they still are in the worst condition. Why? Now you’ve put yourself though a stress that a lot of people in this country can identify with because they suffer from being over their heads in debt thereby causing migraines, high blood pressure, weaknesses in their extremities, and they are just totally exhausted thinking there is no better way out of their mess.

How can you love something or someone who produces a stressful life for you? Doesn’t make sense but millions of people leave their homes every day to take another brutal whipping. According to a new Gallup study, of the country’s 100 million full time employees, 51% aren’t engaged at work, meaning they feel no real connection to their jobs and tend to do the bare minimum. Another 16% are “actively disengaged” they resent their jobs, griping and thus resulting in low morale (CBS News, Mar,31, 2017).

 

Are You Safe From The Next Lay-off?

I’ve been through 4 lay-offs since I left the military in 1997. Are you safe from the next lay-off? The funny thing is each time I had risen to the positions in my industry that had great benefits like a company car, expense account, five figure yearly bonuses, and very good savings plans. You are never ready for the shifts in the economy and the bigger fish swallowing the little fish. The nasty word acquisition haunts me even now when I hear it. Acquisition means someone is gaining a lot and someone is losing even more. Are you safe from the next lay-off?

I’ve lost such a huge part of my life trying to survive during the down periods. I realized a long time ago that multiple streams of income were the way to go and I just could not find my niche because I was caught up in people taking something they didn’t ask for nor did they earn my position and status in life.

Wow, if I could have found those people who lied to us saying that “everything will be alright” knowing they were closing the doors the next morning. How about the new company taking you and your entire staff to Atlanta, GA for three days discussing the opportunities in the new company, having us fill out benefit packages, and returning home to our jobs in Charlotte, NC, 12/21, to changed locks on the doors and a sign in the window telling us we no longer had jobs! What a Christmas present. What have you done to prepare yourself for a situation that could be catastrophic to you and your family? Are you safe from the next lay-off?

Create one list for people who purchased the product and one list for people who just want more info about the product. Name them appropriately so that you know where to put the messages based from where the audience joins your list.

Develop a New Product Launch Calendar – Knowing when each product is being launched for new upcoming products and or services will help you identify which lists you can include the announcements and information on. Plus, it will remind you to create new sales pages, lists, blog posts and email marketing messages for each new product.

Create a Blog Post Publication Calendar – Based on the product launch calendar, write blog posts and set deadlines for them to be scheduled. Ensure that some blog posts promote the various sales pages, and other blog posts are designed for those who purchased already. For each message, consider who will see it and where they come from.

Create a Social Media Content Publication Calendar – Develop social media messages in a series based on your blog posts that will attract your readers to click through to your sales pages and purchase or sign up for your email lists.

Create an Email Publication Calendar – Based on how everything works together above, create a series of emails that you can edit appropriately for each separate list that you may want to promote the new product to. Load them into the right auto responders, ensuring they link to the right sales pages depending on the audience they are sent out to.

Craft Follow-Up Messages – Don’t forget to craft all your follow-up messages too for each product that you sell. Once sold, you will want to keep in contact with the customer who bought it so that you can market future products and services to them.

Hello, welcome, and thank you for such a safe landing on my “I’m Not Ready For Retirement” site. You are part of 10,000 people per day approaching retirement, born between 1946 and 1964. MY STORY

I’m a former US Marine, Army Airborne Logistics Officer, and currently an Operations Supervisor. I have a BS in Health and Physical Education and obtained my MBA with concentrations in Operations and Project Management in April 2012. My past accomplishments cannot compete with what I have done from April 2012 to the present date.

Two weeks prior to graduation, April 2, 2012, I had a life changing episode that has changed my life forever; I had an acute asthma attack while sitting at my desk at work in Charlotte, NC at 10:36 am. Because I’ve never been really sick nor did I have asthma, I didn’t know what was going on and had no idea about what was going to transpire. In less than two hours I couldn’t exhale, had to be resuscitated twice in the Wachovia CIC Center parking lot prior to be driven approximately 2.5 miles to Carolina Medical Center where I would lay in a coma like stage throughout the rest of the day until the next morning.

I was unaware of all the things that were taking place such as contacting the Red Cross to reach my son who had just returned from Iraq, contacting my closest friends, church members, co-workers, and family because my wife was told there was nothing else to be done except wait.

Something happened through the night that I’ll never forget. I saw the brightest light which is still indescribable and heard a voice and the words “I’m not ready for you yet you have a purpose to fulfill” and I woke up. I woke up to see tubes down my throat, one of my best friends who was there all night with my wife and a college fraternity brother who drove from Philadelphia, when he got the call, to Charlotte to be at my bedside crying and praying.

I was in the hospital for 9 more days and at home for 9 months. It was during this time that I spent reading and searching for my purpose and passion because what I had done for over 25 years of my life, I was told I would not be able to do again; so I was told. I say, “Always Progress!””

I now go to the gym regularly. I’m working with some difficulty but, I’m up on my feet and thankful. Now I’m facing retirement and this situation has been costly and put me in a financial situation, like many others, that I didn’t see coming.

WHY I WANT TO HELP PEOPLE

As a leader, I feel that it is important to be transparent so others will first of all know that I’m authentic, honest, and just as human as the next person. There is nothing special about me. I have a passion and a purpose for leadership. That’s who I am and I’m here to lead, develop, encourage, coach, and walk with you through your situation to success.

You see noone ever knows when they will go through something that will change their lives physically and financially. When you are near retirement or planning, you can’t give up! You have to “Always Progress!” towards your goals.

As a Strategic Business Consultant, I want to help you. Sure you’re experiencing some difficulties, some stress, and some uncertainty. I promise you, if you will begin with a goal and a plan, you can reach your goal. My purpose is to be your guide and to learn with you. The goal of my website is to help you develop an “Always Progress!” mindset through participation, communication, and of course you have to take action. You have to participate. This is not a place where you will be made to feel or look inferior; it’s not allowed and I won’t tolerate it!

You have to communicate. We have a close community of people ready to help. When you don’t communicate it is assumed that you know. Remember, this is your life and now you are responsible to get where you want to go. We are here to help you succeed.

Lastly, you have to take action. When you don’t take action then I and the community will never know what you don’t understand. My goal is to help you achieve and that can’t happen without action. I cannot do this for you, only with you.
